Absolutely wonderful. I have nothing but high praises for this spot. I called Thursday to see if they could fit me in that day , they couldn't sadly, but they were very polite and told me I could come in at anytime the next day. I set an appointment for noon and ended up running late, I called to apologize and let them know I was on my way, they were so chill and laid back about it and told me to come when I could. I showed up 45mins late and there were no dirty looks or mumbling under their breath, I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable at all! I was told to make myself comfortable and I was in a chair in less than 15 minutes. Not only was the service excellent and you cold tell everyone who worked there really enjoyed it but, they really know what they are doing. I had long curly mixed hair and had a general idea of what I wanted, Maribel was so helpful when it came to picking out colors and explaining what she had in mind for my hair, I felt totally comfortable with letting her do her thing. The cut is arguably the best I've ever had. It's so hard to layer curly hair without making to look a hot mess and Maribel really hooked me up. The color is great, I thought it was a little dark at first but after a couple of washes it is just what I had been looking for. I'll be back in a couple of months for another cut and maybe those highlight we talked about. With prices that don't leave you contemplating how your rent will be paid after a visit to VR, there's no way I'll be going back my old salon.

These ladies are all talented. A one stop shop for hair and nails! Professional, nice and always clean.I loved the way Ruthy cut my hair. It's always hard for me to find someone to do it right. She understood where I was coming from and didn't give me that puzzled eye when I said well my hair is curly, wavy and straight. She really knows what she doing and can handle all types of hair. Haven't tried any of the other ladies for hair, but all the girls look grrrrr-ate when they leave the salon!Oh and the lady that washed my hair was great too! and she gave me the best head massage I've had in my life! Audry is by far the best nail lady I've been to in NYC! They always look so pretty! They are never chunky lookin and I always get compliments on them. I always have people ask me "Are those your real nails???" Check out the photos i posted!!

Each time I've gone to Melissa she has been really thoughtful about new hairstyles that would look good on me. She listens to what I want and tells me honestly what would work best, and be easy enough for me to style at home. This is a great place where everyone is very friendly and professional. I love how my hair looks everytime and the prices are very reasonable. I've recommended Melissa and Velvet Roses to all of my friends in need of a new do'.

okay so my friend, a professional hair stylist tells me, "Liz, your hair looks great!", and I tell her only when I wash and style it on the first day. after that, i'm cosntantly struggling with it. She tells me, 'then you don't have a good hair cut". so i'm thinking, i never really had a good hair cut because i've been struggling with this for as long as i can rememeber.
I attended one of Velevet Roses Event and win a gift certificate which includes hair wash and dry. I go and she washes my hair (wow! so relaxing), cuts my hair(no, it wasn't included in the certificate but when you love what you do you go the distance) and blows it. Beautiful and it has been ever since, everyday of the week.
Maribel, owner of Velvet Roses, truely has the gift. Thanks Maribel for giving me the sophisticated yet fun hair cut and style i've been longing for.

I am a flight attendant that is super busy. i am also a bartender 2 nights a week and a full time student...and i let my hair go to poop.
I have tried to stick with my hairdresser in California but i a too damn busy.
I have medium curly hair. i wanted a funky do without going into debt.
I live in the area and saw the amazing reviews. crossed my fingers and made an appt.
3 hours later--voila! i got the perfect cut!
Ruthie was awesome!! she was kind and the atmosphere was so homey. she knew what she was doing and for half of what some stylists were quoting me. i got a cut, color, and half-head highlights for under $200. WOW! if anyone knows, that is a steal. haircuts here are usually under 45$.
and they are good...
Ruthie is now my hairdresser. I finally found someone in new york. i am so happy!

i get a manicure and pedicure 4 days ago and the polish in my hands still looking great and my feet look awsome.i will return back to audry she is really good trust me really good.
